A Poem About Painting

“The Death of Painting”

The thick textural feeling of paint – like water for life

“Painters of artwork, along with those minimalists that paint houses have always drawn me a romantic image, generally with a deep jazz-infused night-club cellar of Paris as the pull.”

After digitally printing for quite a few years, I came to the conclusion that the digital print is much too flat and prone to imitation or multi-copying which ultimately devalues each image to the point of a throw-away. It is when we create the one-off work where you can feel the depth of material that begins to excite (me) as a unique object not subject to duplication.

As with my photography, my approach to the painted, hand-made work is diverse in styles as I tend to swim around in our ocean of ideas.
