Shooting wide-angle without the lens
You get to a viewing spot and look out. The view stretches forever and your camera tells you a lie by condensing it to a narrow thin line encroached by superfluous objects: too much dull sky, foreground irrelevance and such. How do you capture what you want and take out the rest?
Before the advent of the amazing attributes of our present-day phone cameras, my solution was to take a few detailed images of the scene and then stitch by hand into one.
